Sorry it is a day late. Well if you are all wondering, I finally did the dishes only to fill the dishwasher up again so it is a never ending vicious cycle. I also binge watched the entire season of The Witcher. Henry Cavil and the rest of the cast do a great job in the series and I look forward to the next season. But I digress, more on that later. Onto the main event. I pulled out the bread pudding and put it on the stove to warm up a bit so the glass pan wouldn't break from the heat. I put the oven to 350 degrees and let it come to temp. I took the cover off the pan it smelled very good so that is promising.

When the oven came to temp I popped the pan into the oven and crossed my fingers for a good turn out. I set the timer for 45 min, just enough time to re-watch an episode of my newfound favorite show.

I turned on the Netflix and did my nails while I waited. Nothing fancy at all I just haven't shaped them up in a while and they were starting to feel long. I am one of those people who prefers their nails to be short. I mean really short. If I can feel my nail over the top of my finger tip it's too long. Call it crazy if you want, long nails freak me out a bit. Anyhoo the timer went off and I went to check it. It seemed like it needed just a little longer in the oven so I pushed it back in and set the timer for 20 more minutes. The cooking time may vary with other ovens it depends on the hot spots, gas, electric, convection etc. Hopefully it is going to work out great.

Now I am going to pause a moment to talk about the whiskey sauce. It may have appeared to solidify, maybe even look like there are two layers. That can happen, it is no cause to panic. It just needs to be warmed up just a little bit and stirred with a whisk until it comes together. If you have never had whiskey sauce, drop everything and go make yourself some right now. Even if it isn't for bread pudding it is an amazing topper for a lot of things like pound cake, bundt cake, ice cream, coffee, the possibilities are endless. The butter and brown sugar in the sauce highly compliments the whiskey in a way that makes your mouth sing and warms your soul. PS I hear whiskey is really good for colds so there is that benefit too. Well I am a few minutes into the next episode of my re-watch and the timer goes off again. Time to check this babay out.

It is puffed up like a souffle and is beautifully browned on the edges and top. I give it the shake for the perfect wobble and it passes the test. I do it that way because of the sour cream layer. If I was to use a cake tester or knife I would get a false read because that layer would stick to both. Wobble test works out well you want there to be movement but not a jiggly as jello. It should give but be firm in the movement. Now if the volume goes down and becomes level with the pan as it cools do not freak out that is completely normal. As soon as it is out of the oven I have to hightail it out to in-laws for football so I grabbed a clean kitchen towel and used that to cover the top and carry the pan out since it was so hot. Don't worry I stacked it on top of the sauce so I wouldn't forget it and we jumped in the car and went on our merry way. Well the moment of truth was coming and as I was putting the pan on the counter I remembered that the hubby and his brother don't necessarily like bread pudding. Oh well they are just going to have to suck it up.

Lucky for me the whiskey sauce is so enticing everyone had some. Let me tell you it was like comfort on a spoon. There sour cream layer added a much needed tang with all the richness of the dessert so I will probably continue that in some form. The whiskey sauce added the perfect compliment to all the flavors. I go for the corner piece it's my favorite part because I like hard edges it gives. I also really like the corner of a deep chocolate brownie too. I mean really who doesn't right. All in all I'd say this fun experiment was a success. I may have to do another when the mood strikes me. I think I have gabbed on long enough about this and I am off to go re-watch another episode of the silver locked Geralt and his adventures.
